The Ministry of Rural Development has been conducting a Below Poverty Line (BPL) Census since 1992 which is done through State Government/UTs Administration generally at the beginning of Five year Plan. The basic objective of this Census is to identify the families living Below Poverty Line in rural areas of the country, who could be assisted under various poverty alleviation programs being implemented by the ministry. Now the Government of India has decided to conduct the Socio Economic Census for rural & urban areas along with Caste Census.
Service contract for data collection on door to door basis for 120 crore population.
